Campbell to discuss sanctuary cities
March 27th, 2008, 1:12 pm · 24 Comments · posted by Amy Taxin
We hear the Register’s partner news station KDOC is going to have Rep. John Campbell on the air Friday to discuss his views on U.S. immigration policies.
Campbell, R-Irvine, has long proposed legislation that would withhold federal funds to self-declared “sanctuary cities.” His proposal isn’t part of any legislation up for debate right now, said Campbell spokesman Vartan Djihanian. He said Campbell will seek to tack his amendment onto a new immigration bill — whenever one is proposed.
Proponents of proposals like Campbell’s say cities should be required to collaborate with federal immigration officials and help enforce immigration law. But critics of such proposals say cities have the right to make their own decisions and that requiring them to inquire about residents’ immigration status could hurt community policing.
You can catch Campbell on KDOC at 6:15 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. Friday. In the meantime, let us know what you think:

I don’t understand that if it is a city that does not enforce its immigration law’s the city will end up a dump full of gang;s slums and a third world feel. No one goes to mexico (sorry Santa Ana) unless they really need to. The only poeple that benefit in this city is the fat cats all hispanic city officials. This city is the reason US needs to keep Mexicans in Mexico their is a reason why Mexico pushes it people over the boarder. Hard working people my butt. Take a trip to any Social welfare building and you will see only Hispanics their, I laugh when mexicans call American rascist, who wants a bunch of free loaders in their country taking there hard working pay!! NO ONE!!

The discussion seems a bit early in the morning, but I will watch it as I usually get up by 6 a.m. I think Campbell’s proposel make sense, but I think that Rep. Campbell should really be quite aggressive about this issue. When is the Federal Gov’t going to take these irresponsible and law breaking cities to task?

Name the cities!

Oh, now we’re going to talk about enforcing laws and applying penalties? Well, let’s see: Los Angeles is a sanctuary city…are we going to cut off Homeland Security Funding so that terrorists will have an easier time slipping in through the port or LAX? New York is a sanctuary city, are we going to cut off funding that provides national security for Wall Street and the financial center?
Don’t get me wrong - I’m a LEGAL immigrant. I waited my turn and followed the rules. I’m offended whenever anyone proproses that those here illegally get to stay, while millions wait in foreign lands because they are following the rules.
However, FIRST secure the borders. SECOND put employers in jail and/or out of business if they hire illegals. THIRD deport any illegal who commits a crime. Then we need to discuss anchor babies, funding of state prison expenses for illegals, etc. I think right around there the whole issue of sanctuary cities will be moot. It’s a good discussion to have at the right time, but let’s not toss out the reasonable steps in an effort to correct 25 years of no law enforcement.

Dina: San Francisco for one
March 27th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
Why then doesn’t our government just set up sanctuary cities for murders, theives, pedophiles, terrorists…..etc. I mean, those things are basically illegal too ……right?

THANK YOU Congressman Campbell for your tough stand against illegal immigration!
To read Campbell’s letters to ICE go to http://www.betsyrosspatriots.com and click on DOCUMENTS. You will find THREE letters Campbell sent to ICE asking them to do raids in Laguna Beach.
Then go to the Home Page and see the Featured Article for photos of Congressman Campbell’s staffer witnessing CRIMES at the Laguna Beach day labor site.

Do you think Mexico is going to stand for this? Mexico is now in control of many cities in California, Maywood, Bell, Bell Gardens, Cudhay, and just about all of East LA. Why do you think there are more and more Mexican Consulates every day and why they have representatives handing out those Matricula cards (ID’s from Mexico for the illegals here, so they can get bank accounts to cash checks). We are at war with Mexico, it just hasn’t been declared yet.
March 27th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
Of course we’re at war with Mexico. Wake up, America! Have you been to your kid’s school meetings? Staffs there are segregated into English speakers (all diverse non-Hispanics) and Spanish speakers (it doesn’t matter if they also speak English, these people prefer to speak at mtgs in Spanish). Supervisors speak Spanish to “his people” and ignores the rest of the English speakers. This is what is happening under your noses and allowed by the HR at the district.
The Hispanic teachers harassed all other non-Hispanic students (Whites, Asians, etc.), & there’s major racial tension. The Spanish speakers would act disrespectful at work towards the English speakers (it does not matter if you’re non-white English speakers, they’ll still treat you rudely). This is a travesty and more alarming is no one can speak up against it. I cannot express in writing how suffocating it feels to be discriminated by these La Raza illegal lovers and pro-Mexicanization of the US traitors. By traitors, I’m talking about Hispanic teachers and Hispanic non-teaching staff members.
If you don’t wake up by now, I fear we’ll all lose the biggest war of all, the ones where we shoot ourselves with silence and allow our enemy to rape our women and children with a hostile culture that favors corruption of good over freedom and rightousness.

Please read this OCR news article dated 11/05.
Laguna Beach eligible for FEMA funds http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/news/atoz/article_769328.php
“City Manager Ken Frank estimates Laguna Beach will get $5 million from FEMA.”
Laguna Beach is the same city that funds and supports a day labor site with taxpayers money. It’s also operating on California STATE owned land that they squatted on 10 years ago, and just started paying $420 monthly rent when they were caught.
The city officials made a “deal” with the day laborers that they will NOT call ICE on them.
The Laguna Beach police department drove around town passing out flyers to day laborers that said “You are an important part of our community. We want you to stay here and make lots of money to send home to Mexico.”
The police chief, Spriene, who before he retired had also been quoted as saying that the Mexican Matricular Consular card will be accepted as LEGAL ID within the Laguna Beach city limits.
BUT, the city received $5 MILLION in FEMA money to restore a residential street? (Where multi million dollar homes with an ocean view are located?)
You can verify all of this by going to http://www.betsyrosspatriots.com and click on DOCUMENTS and read the Statement of Facts in a recent lawsuit. It’s all documented in the court papers.
Not to mention they raised the sales tax in town to cover the cost of rebuilding, but when FEMA came through they never rescinded the increase in sales tax.
They also tried to sell the Girl Scout camp that has been here since the 1930s, but continued to fund the day labor site.

The OCR needs a anti ILLEGAL immigration reporter to balance the reporting.

Does anyone remember when Pete Wilson tried to bill Mexico for all the money CA was spending on their citizens? Well, since everyone is saying how poor Mexico is, they have a commodity the US can use. Oil. We’ll take in trade, President Calderon, millions of barrels in oil valued at current market rate for what we spend in taxes every day to pay for your citizens living in our country. I hope you don’t think the free lunch would last forever, we can only be taxed so much. We can ignore our failing schools, packed ER’s, full welfare offices and dirty neighborhoods no longer. Interestingly enough, my parents neighborhood was always a nice place. Until recently when some houses were sold that rent to 20 people in one place. Now theres shopping carts, broken cars and trash near those houses. THAT’s what really makes me mad.

We all need to support Cambbells proposed legistlation and vote out any politicians that oppose it. It’s the only way for us to change the trend line of California going down.
California used to have significant growth from other states with high quality workers. Now we have a net migration out of the state from high quality American’s and a net increase due to Illegal Immigration.
This is truly one of the Best States to live for a variety of reasons, but it’s Americans are not moving here due to the loss of the middle class.
March 28th, 2008 at 8:18 am
Amy Amy Amy …..what part of NO illegals do you people at the OCR not understand? I thing ICE should pay a visit to the OCR headquarters to see how many illegals are working for this paper .Do they check the immigration status of there poorly paid paper delivery people?

All Federal and State funding should be suspended to the cities that give sanctuary to Illegal aliens.
Prosecute employers that continue to hire illegals to full extent of the law.
If governments would STOP enabling illegals they will go home!
March 28th, 2008 at 9:45 am
How about sanctuaries for other criminals? Why discriminate? Sanctuary for all or none!!

Illegal Immigration Costs California Over Ten Billion Annually
Analysis of the latest Census data indicates that California’s illegal immigrant population is costing the state’s taxpayers more than $10.5 billion per year for education, medical care and incarceration. Even if the estimated tax contributions of illegal immigrant workers are subtracted, net outlays still amount to nearly $9 billion per year. The annual fiscal burden from those three areas of state expenditures amounts to about $1,183 per household headed by a native-born resident.

How about this poll;
Are you a US citizen
yes
no (if you answer no you cannot fill out this poll)
Do you think illegals should be deported?
Yes
No
Do you think Illegal immigration has obliterated the middle class?
yes
no
See what it feels like?
OCR you exclude US citizens from affected areas. If you poll Beverly hills they will have a different answer than those in San Clemente.
You also use the word immigrant instead of illegal immigrant quite often. They are two completely different types of people. Please keep this in mind in your articles.

Just make sure that Mr. Campbell doesn’t implement Special Order 40 in OC. If it’s already in effect, he ought to ask for petition, in forceful terms, that Special Order 40 should be rescinded. Just look at L.A. County. Why can’t we just deport the criminal illegal aliens ourselves if the Feds are too inept to enforce our laws? And why is Mexico enforcing their own immigration laws stringently south of their border while we can’t enforce our own in the same manner? That’s shows the corruption, and I just don’t see why “taking the law into our own hands” is such a bad idea after all. The ones who advocate “due process” are the scumbag politicians and the scumbag attorneys who want to keep the status quo.

The only sanctuary cities should be in the illegal persons country of origin. This should the responsibility of the Consulates and Government’s of those countries. After all they should be concerned
for their country men. Quit wasting our resources and tax dollar.
