It’s old news that the city of San Francisco is a self-declared “sanctuary city” where undocumented immigrants can seek public services or call the police without getting reported to federal authorities.
But this week, Mayor Gavin Newsom and Supervisor Tom Ammiano launched an $83,000 public awareness campaign to get out the word that immigrants can access city services, regardless of their legal status.
The ad campaign, which will feature radio and TV announcements and multi-lingual brochures, aims to make sure residents call police and fire during emergencies and can access health care and education, officials said in a statement.
Last week, The Issue readers voted in an online poll (not scientific) about whether self-declared “sanctuary cities” should lose federal funding — a proposal espoused by Rep. John Campbell, R-Irvine. Of 280 votes, 89 percent said yes.

Ok, let San Francisco become a “sanctuary city”.
We as voters will only take so much of cities wasting the State resource and our had earned tax dollar. They can raise their local taxes and bring down the life styles of the already struggling middle and lower income workers as the illegals lower the wage base and continue to use up the cities strapped medical, educational and welfare support meant for citizens and those that have legally immigrated to their city.
I’m sure that many of us in SoCa will be glad to give them directions.
Just send buses or gas money so that they can drive their cars (even though they have no licenses and no documentation ).

Thanks for the tip. I just e-mailed the Mayor’s office to inquire whether SF would be willing to advertise their outreach program in OC if I could raise the funds to pay for same.
OK, so all we have to do is to convince the illegal aliens here in Southern California that San Francisco is the Promised Land. They just have to be marketed properly. Let’s buy one-way bus tickets to San Francisco for the illegal aliens and we drop them on Mayor Gavin Newsom’s doorstep and then he takes over from there. He’s made it clear that he takes over from there. There’s no guilt, he’s put out the invitation. He’s dying for more illegals. We want to get the illegals the hell out of Southern California. All we have to do is to convince the illegals that there’s a better life in San Francisco than they’ll ever have here and Mayor Newsom will be more than happy to welcome them with open arms. I’m sick and tired of the illegal aliens trashing half of Southern California. Let them trash San Francisco for a change.

All Federal & State funding should be withheld from San Francisco.
Tourists do not travel to San Francisco. I would not enable San Francisco to be a Sanctuary city by any means.

Sanction all greedy employers who have hired illegal immigrants. Deport all illegal immigrants. Hold our politician and our government accountable for not enforcing immigration law. Vote out however supports illegal immigrant.
Riverside and San Bernardino Counties are now heaven places for illegal immigrants, criminal illegal immigrants, and racist individual from Mexico as well as places for the greedy employers hiring them. We should have more citizens to speak out the true about problems of illegal immigrants regardless what country they came from. We are not racists, but human beings are all racists regardless skin colors.

All of the elected officials who cater to illegals need to be forced out of office immediately. They seem to forget that the citizens are the ones who elected them and put them in office to speak for the people. Yet they all have their own selfish agendas. I emailed Mayor Newsom and some of his staff when this story first broke, and of course I never received a response. What part of ILLEGAL don’t you understand?
